Welcome to Clarkeonenil, now in its second season, a splattering of blithers and pontification edited by a South West London based Leeds United fan, writing by regular contributors and selected guests.
Some of you will have roamed the wide plains of football related forums, where conjecture, emotional overplay, logical paucity and plain old fashioned idiocy rule the roust. Hidden somewhere in its history lived a short-term groundbreaking initiative called “The Weekly Grump”. The Grump, which reached its nadir as the Blackwell era descended into its inevitable car crash, was predominately Leeds United biased but did extend around the other edges of English football. Evolution brought us and our attitude to where the idea to blog was formed.
Deliberately individual in style, bordering some say on narcissistic, the one thing that Clarkeonenil could never be was consensual, no sitting on the fence. With our extensive knowledge of the moral degeneracy that is football some criticism will obviously feature in large parts but we hope so will insight. We firmly believe someone as to supply the grit to all the hyped gloss of what used to be the peoples game.
Clearly our major focus is Leeds United, as witnessed in the category Contributions on the Leeds United Quagmire, where our critical edge will know no bounds, not for us the cheer-leading tendency and whilst the present ownership/directors is in place we remain oppositionist without apology. We have our regular columns, Monday’s Talking Point, The Original Grumpy Old Man and Teenage Kicks In. We also intend to keep venturing uninvited into the domain of others, see the categories Football Through an Hardened Glare or The Other 91 Basket Cases (originally Sniffer Nose and Sniffer’s Sunday Shorts).
A few housekeeping things to note, if you have problems with our opinions, philosophy or tone, tough don’t read, if you feel the need to comment on grammar and spelling, piss off and get a life. Whilst we are evolving towards a collective endeavor we are not a democracy, if your comment adds something life’s rich tapestry the editor will leave it on the site but if it is just a rant or invective it’s got no chance (genuine free thinking on football is as rare as rocking horse droppings so if you can produce that get in touch, you’ll be treasured and we’d love you to write for us). What we want to do, in this age of UHT opinions and over delicate ego’s, is say it like it is and say it again so it wasn’t missed. So that is where we are, no frills, no tempering, no compromise, just insights and opinions, blithered up into a social media environment. Suit yourself whether you enjoy or not. Whilst other better known LUFC blogs go from strength to strength we are just happy to plod along being us.
Oh and all the opinions in all the posts are just that – ‘opinion’, they do not necessarily contain any fact(s) so cannot be libelous or defamatory. So don’t bother suing us or this website.
